Stories From Our Table
I have been coming here for fifteen years. The gnocchi is so good it makes me cry every single time. This place is home.
We got engaged at Nonna Rosa six years ago. Last month we brought our daughter for her birthday. The staff remembered us. I cannot explain how that feels.
I lived in Italy for two years and the lasagna here tastes like my host mother's Sunday cooking. That is the highest compliment I know how to give.

Our Story
Our Family, Your Table
In 1987, Rosa Marino arrived from Palermo with nothing but her mother's recipe book and a dream to feed Chicago the way she fed her own family. She opened the first Nonna Rosa in a converted brick storefront on Taylor Street, rolling pasta by hand at 4 AM while her sons slept in the back office.
Today, Rosa's grandchildren run the kitchen, but her hands still guide every dish. We make our gnocchi fresh each morning using her wooden board — scratched and worn from forty years of use. Our tomato sauce simmers for six hours, just as it did in her Sicilian village.
